• High Speed DNA-Sequence analysis on FPGA-Platforms

This topic is addressing problems in one of the most recent research areas, i.e. to perform DNA-sequencing using nanopore technology and to design improved algorithms for DNA-sequence alignment and further processing of DNA-sequencing data.

• VHDL-Design for designing logic circuits on FPGAs: 

VHDL provides a huge spectrum of possibilities for FPGA-Designs. Especially hardware like the ZED-board offer the possibility of designing complex logical circuits due to the fact, that the Zynq-System-on-chip contains a powerful FPGA as well as an ARM processor in parallel.
