A new offer for international students and Kiel residents
For all students who have recently arrived in Germany or have been here for some time and would like to become more socially involved, as well as for Kiel residents who would like to welcome the world to Kiel, we at the International Office offer a new contact point: the Partnership Programme - Your Home Abroad. In our programme, we bring Kiel residents into contact with international students. Cultural exchange, joint discussions and activities to get to know each other are a further step for the students to arrive in their new home and a way for the Kieler to say Hallo and get a hello back.
How does the partner programme work?
We use a simple matching process to help you find the right partner, get to know each other at a kick-off event and meet up twice a year for a day together. How often you meet beyond that and how you want to organize your time together is entirely up to you. Excursions, cooking together or simply exchanging ideas over a coffee are just a few ideas. We from the partnership programme will be happy to support you during your time together if you have any questions.
As a student, you register with us and receive a short questionnaire which we use to connect you with Kiel residents who are looking forward to the exchange. You will receive support with everyday questions, such as finding your way around the city or getting to know Kiel's traditions and events. You also have the chance to make new contacts in a friendly and open atmosphere and learn more about life in Kiel.
As a Kieler, you can also register for the sponsorship programme and we will arrange an appointment to get to know each other. You will also fill out a questionnaire and we will put you in contact with a student. You will become an important part of the international network and can help your student to find his or her feet more quickly and settle in in Kiel. At the same time, you will benefit from exciting insights into a different culture and can expand your knowledge of other countries and ways of life.
