Health degree programmes

Welcome to the Homepage of the Faculty of Nurisng and Physiotherapyat Kiel UAS!

With its degree programmes in health care, the Kiel University of Applied Sciences is striving to further advance the studies of health care to make them more academic and professional.

The two courses in nursing and physiotherapy form the basis of the portfolio in the important future area of health degree programmes. In this way, the university is fulfilling its central mission of training academic specialists for its federal state in nursing and health care. In the medium term, the university would like to further expand the range of health-related degree programmes and bundle them in a new department for health care degrees.
While the university has offered physiotherapy since 2001, nursing is still a new offering. The bachelor's degree program that accompanies training started in the summer semester of 2023 with 60 study places at the new external location in Neumünster.
In both cases, cooperation with training institutes - the three technical schools for physiotherapy in Damp, Itzehoe and Kiel as well as with various hospitals in Schleswig-Holstein -
ensure that knowledge is always imparted in a practical manner.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing

The bachelor's degree in nursing is a practice-oriented degree with a generalist character, whereby individual thematic priorities can be set in the course by choosing different specialisations. It combines the acquisition of the initial professional qualification with the acquisition of the first academic degree by crediting achievements from the generalist nursing school training and enables professional work in all fields of nursing.

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy

The bachelor's degree in physiotherapy is a combined/dual degree programme that integrates physiotherapy training (in accordance with the training and examination regulations for physiotherapists (PhysTh-APrV)). In the first three years or six semesters, you complete your training at one of the three cooperation institutions for physiotherapy training and study concurrently at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences from day one in the bachelor's degree programme. After three years, you obtain your first professional qualification as a state-recognised physiotherapist. You will then write your final paper/thesis at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences in the seventh semester.
