Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mattes is Professor of Production/Manufacturing Technology at the faculty of Mechanical Engineering and head of the Manufacturing Technology Research Group. His main focus is on the topics Machining Processes, Additive Processes (Metal) and Forming Technology.

    • 2009 to 2011: Value Engineer at Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd. & Co. KG
    • 2008: PhD for a doctorate in Engineering; topic of the dissertation: “Chipping simulation solutions for tool construction and process design for milling”
    • 2004 to 2008: Scientific employee at the Fraunhofer-Institute for production plants and construction technologies (IPK), partner institute of the Technische Universität Berlin
    • 1999 to 2004: study of Mechanical Engineering, specialisation in production technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)

    The Manufacturing Technology Research Group focuses on the additive manufacturing of metal components using powder-based Directed Energy Deposition (DED) as well as the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize manufacturing processes.
