Industrial Engineering – Electrical Engineering
Overview
The degree course in Industrial Engineering – Electrical Engineering qualifies students to work as engineers in management and marketing in the communication and renewable energy sector. In-depth knowledge of technology is just as important as comprehensive knowledge in business administration.
After graduation, students occupy positions in which they take alternating perspectives in order to accomplish complex tasks.
Besides technical knowledge in the specialisation modules communication technology, microelectronics or renewable energy technology, students gain knowledge in the essential management sectors, e.g. research and development management, corporate organisation, marketing and sales, finance, controlling and procurement management.
The degree course enables them to analyse, design and evaluate business correlations from an engineer’s perspective. Complex problems can be represented argumentatively and discussed with superiors, colleagues, business partners and laypersons.
Communication technology is omnipresent today. Users expect complete network coverage, 100% availability and immense data rates. The future fields of industry 4.0 and the expected billions of M2M communications will require the innovation and development of new communication protocols, innovative, physical channels of communication and notably secure transmission technologies.
In the future, there will be a great need for engineers who not only provide technical knowledge but also survey market and customer potential.
The market for renewable energy has shown huge growth for some years now. Germany is in the middle of a fundamental restructuring of its energy supplies, and other European countries are steadily taking these considerations into account.
For the first time, the share of renewable energies in the German electricity supply has reached more than 25%. This leads to a high need for specialists in marketing, sales and project management who not only provide a solid knowledge in business administration but also a specialised technological training in the renewable energy field.
Job profile
Graduates of the degree course in Industrial Engineering – Electrical Engineering find work in every market-oriented field of technical and economic companies. The future engineers bridge the fields of technology and business administration in the various companies, authorities and research institutes. Product and project management, development, production, distribution and technical customer support are ideal sectors for our young professionals.
After finishing the degree course in Industrial Engineering – Electrical Engineering, students are allowed to continue the master’s degree at UAS Kiel in electronic technologies with one of the specialisation in “Electrical Engineering” or “Communication technology and Microelectronics” or at any other university.
