Prof. Dr. Rupert-Kruse is a professor of Media Theory and Immersion Research.
He is currently Vice Dean and Commissioner for Studies, Teaching, and Examinations, as well as the Program Director of the Master's program "Media Conception." In addition, he is the Director of the Institute for Immersive Media (ifim) and Co-Director of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Immersion Research at the Department of Media. He teaches in the programs "Multimedia Production," "Media Engineering," "Media Conception," and "Journalism and Media Economics."

Prof. Dr. Patrick Rupert-Kruse has held the professorship for Media Theory and Immersion Research at the Department of Media at Kiel University of Applied Sciences since 2014. He is also the director of the Institute for Immersive Media (ifim) and co-director of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Immersion Research (LINK).
Additionally, he is a founding member of the Research Group for Moving Image Studies Kiel and Managing Editor of the Yearbook of Moving Image Studies (YoMIS). Since 2023, he has also served as Chairman of the Board of the Society for Immersive Media Schleswig-Holstein, advocating for the development of skills in dealing with immersive media for businesses, institutions, and society.
He studied Modern German Literature and Media Studies, Philosophy, and Psychology at Kiel University (Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel). In 2010, he completed his dissertation on the topic of Imagination and Empathy and subsequently taught and conducted research at Kiel University.

- Innovative formats for cultural mediation

Students who would like to write a thesis with me should ideally contact me two months before registering with the examination office. A project outline in the form of an introduction or exposé (this includes the research question, a contextual classification and delimitation of the topic, the methodological approach and a description of the structure of the thesis) must be discussed with me in advance of registration.
