Strength Measurements at StandUp-Paddles

StandUP-Paddling, the so-called SUP is a very popular watersport.

A model was to be developed for the prediction of power resp. speed of the board. Therefore, the forces introduced into the water were to be measured over time at 2 paddles. The paddles were made of carbon resp. aluminium alloy.

The lab´s task was to apply several strain gauges on the paddles and to equip the paddles with an Arduino-Board for in situ calculation of the loads and a SD-card for data storage. All components were protected against water ingress.
